Romy Schwarzer was born in Dresden. She studied dance at the Academy of Music and Dance, Cologne. This was followed by studies abroad in New York, made possible by a one-year scholarship from the DAAD. In 2015 she received a working scholarship from the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony. In 2017 she graduated from the MA Choreography at the HZT Berlin/HfS Ernst Busch. Since 2007 she works as a freelance dancer and choreographer. She realizes her own projects and dances for various companies and theatres. 2018-2020 she worked as assistant director at the Staatstheater Cottbus under the acting director Jo Fabian.

About soundance festival berlin

The soundance festival berlin presents joint projects by dancers, choreographers, musicians and composers of the Berlin independent scene and invites international guest artists. As an impulse for the dialogue between the different genres, the festival presents a broad spectrum of artistic styles from contemporary dance to real-time music, from Post Butoh to New Jazz and improvisation – analog and electronic. Cross-generational, diverse works and formats between sound and movement in theater and urban space will be experienced by the audience. The soundance festival berlin was founded in 2017.
