Sound of Silence

How does your hair sound, and what sound is made when you shrug your shoulder? Sound of Silence is not a performance in the traditional sense, but rather an open experiment exploring the relationship between sight and hearing through working with movements, bodies and sounds. The soundscape in this performance consists only of sounds created or generated on stage by the dancers and their movements. Using different types of microphones and computer programming, every sound you experience is a result of the happenings on stage.

Do mirrors burn?

When part of yourself disappears, is set ablaze and burned to ash, the reflection of yourself still exists in it’s mirror image. Even if nothing physical remains, the essence of who you are is not lost… but where does your essence lie?

In Do mirrors burn? two powerful women find themselves in a reflection of their lives and long-time friendship, a product of their current physical and emotional states. Gestural physicality brings images of duality, discovering two sides of the same, and finding self in other.
What does it mean to create – and even more, to co-exist – with someone who knows you so well, they could be your mirror image?

AURAL HAPTICS

Haptics deal with touch and proprioception. But in essence, are also linked with the physical production of sound and aural sensation. We look beyond measured decision making into the traces of our memory and how they reside in our skin, inside our bodies and musculature in collusion with our brains and fervor. We aim to produce something temporal that looks for this place beyond language and learned behavior. And to recreate a kind of sonic and visual amplification, a reverberation of an echo, an invocation from our varied past from memories we don’t even remember and lives we didn’t actually live, but that are vibrating through us into the now.

Spazio Rado – Aukio reflects on the concept of home through different perspectives. An inner space that allows freedom and choice for personal truth, or a space of built security and attachment. A place where our wild nature uncovers its needs, calling for depth, listening and vulnerability. A bright light that emerges from the thick and dark; an open space in the dense woods. Working in a zone of transition where imagination and reality blend, the performers create an intimate landscape of sound, movement and light.

Remember to Forget

In today’s over-commodified world, we are free to focus on ourselves exclusively, without obligation to the greater collective. Platforms offered to do so, originating from a desire to connect, morph into means of self-marketing. Even this text is a disguised ad. What happens when you inadvertently turn yourself into a product? When your attempt at self-realization makes you your own shareholder, investing you into a social credit system? How does curating one‘s own narrative affect individual memory? In the age of the individual, where do collective memory and responsibility live? When you are your own ruler, are you actually free?
